Introduction
This is the temporary home page of Baily's historical notes. These notes form part of the data that we have found whilst trawling our archive and have been copied into more readable form.
Soon a new Baily's site will replace the current one at www.bailyshuntingdirectory.com and will feature improved navigation, new content, simplified sign up and verification, be more user friendly and will include the data here so that you have no need to go from site to site.
However during the transition we do not see why our subscribers should be prevented from getting a taste of what is to come and it may give those who have yet to subscribe a mere 'scent' of what the full directory experience offers.
Charles James
This site is also the home of Charles James the Baily's Hunting Directory Fox who lives in a little area called Baily's Country in between some great hunting countries. His good friend Mr Blinky drew a map for you all to see exactly where we are, which he has made available so I hope this helps explain things..
Charles James and his growing band of friends will be appearing throughout 2011, in various Baily's publications so keep an eye out for us and the new things they will be doing!
Together with Charles James the characters you need to know about are:

Mr Blinky the Short-Sighted Field Mouse.
One of my dearest friends in the whole county.. Mr Blinky and I go way back - right back to when I was a cub and he used to teach me French and how to make playthings with baler twine. He now lives just in the entrance to my den in a little niche in the trunk of the old tree.

Mr Itchy-Breeches the Gamekeeper
What a mean old grumpy pants, always on the look out, never lets me get to within a mile of his pheasants. His dogs are a pain as well, all that barking and yapping when I don't get the wind direction quite right. He thinks he's got my card marked.. but he doesn't know the half of what I get away with! They all live at the other end of the country in a little cottage by the river.

Minky - The merry mink who lives in the riverbank under the green wood and sometimes brings us little tit-bits he finds floating downstream.

Orpheus - The Basset. He lives in the big house at the end of the avenue, but is always out and about. Not sure his owners have managed to work out how to keep him contained.

Alfred the Kingfisher - Lives in a hole in the riverbank under Kingfisher bridge. He seems to know a lot and we sometimes go to him for advice about stuff. He can generally be found lazing on the river bank catching snacks for himself. He's big mates with Minky and they often go off on fishing trips for the day.
As you explore Baily's Country you may find other characters.
